Biography
Flory Ann Mansor Gingging is a senior lecturer in the Department of Music and currently Programme Leader for the BA (Hons.) in Contemporary Music (Audio Technology) programme. Before joining 糖心原创 in April 2026, she was a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjong Malim, Perak, where she also supervised PhD students in ethnomusicology. In addition, she served as Chief Editor of the Scopus-indexed (Q1) Malaysian Journal of Music until her departure in March 2026 and continues to contribute as a section editor.
She earned a PhD in Folklore and Ethnomusicology from Indiana University Bloomington. Her doctoral research, conducted on a Fulbright-Hays scholarship, examined Kadazandusun identity in Sabah, a Malaysian state on the island of Borneo. She also holds a master鈥檚 degree in musicology from Michigan State University, as well as undergraduate degrees in music and English. In addition, she has a CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), accredited by Cambridge Assessment English, part of the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining UPSI, she taught English at a range of levels in Thailand, Malaysia, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
